Also, all of these likes apply no matter the tone of the canon. I love angsty/dark/h/c fic for light-hearted/comedy canons, is what I’m saying.

The Good Place

This show is so much fun and there’s so much room to fill in the blanks.

I know that this is an ongoing canon and it’ll be back soon, so if you get ideas from season 2B, go wild.

Canon divergence is also a perfectly fine and admirable choice.

Post-canon where they’re in the Real Good Place is great too.

Tahani Al-Jamil & Chidi Anagonye & Jianyu Li | Jason Mendoza & Eleanor Shellstrop

You can’t choose your family. Unfortunately.

Basically, I want all the dysfunctional found family feels that fit with what Eleanor said in the first season finale—they’re supposed to torture each other, and they do, kind of, but they also take care of each other. Their being protective of each other would be awesome.

A couple of really specific prompts just in case one of them or a part of one of them tickles your fancy or gives you an idea:

Everyone’s alive AU where they still all somehow meet and make each other better people.
Non-con between one of the characters and their ‘soulmate’ during whichever reboot(s), followed by h/c with the others. Maybe this happens to more than one of them (say, Chidi had a situation like this in a few of the reboots, Jason had one in some others, maybe Tahani or Eleanor did at some point too) and the different ways the situation could play out with different victims could be explored.
It’s still the 803rd attempt and they got to the Real Good Place, yay! Except Jason’s still under the impression that they’re in the Bad Place and this is just a really special, really confusing season of the prank show. (Why are the demons different? Why can he remember all the other reboots? Why aren’t Michael and his real Janet here? Why do things actually seem to go right? Everyone else seems a lot happier, though, and for once they don’t know something that he does…this is really good torture, because when the illusion gets destroyed it’s going to really, really break them.) It takes a while for the others to realize what he thinks. He gets it eventually, it’s just…a tough time.

Note: I’m fine with the various canon romantic feelings between, say, Tahani and Eleanor or Eleanor and Chidi, and even ships (Tahani/Eleanor, Chidi/Eleanor, Chidi/Eleanor/Tahani, Janet/Jason) are fine as long as the story’s focus isn’t shippy and is on the four of them as friends/family.

Chidi Anagonye & Jianyu Li | Jason Mendoza

So, Tahani and Eleanor were soulmates in Attempt 218…what if Chidi and Jason were too? How did that go? How long was Jason silent? Unlike Eleanor, did he not break the news to Chidi immediately? So how does Chidi find out? Does Jason join the ethics classes earlier? Does Chidi meet Eleanor through Jason/does Eleanor meet Chidi through Jason? Basically, Chidi and Jason as miserable soulmates who become friends.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Korg of Krona & Thor

You know what would be great? Korg angst. He’s chipper and glib and a bit of a space cadet, sure, but he was keeping himself alive through gladiatorial combat for a fair amount of time. There’s darkness there. I think that exploring that through his friendship with Thor would be really interesting!

Korg is suddenly not on Sakaar and also he’s friends with a king, which is sure interesting, and he actually didn’t kill Miek, which is a relief, but unfortunately his experiences on Sakaar really sucked a lot and it’s only just now hitting him now that he’s not there anymore. And Thor isn’t exactly a counselor, okay, but he’s open to a heart to heart every now and then, and he does at least understand the whole gladiatorial combat thing.

(Feel free to just make this a canon divergence or ‘everyone’s on a spaceship way longer than the movie implies and there’s enough time for friendship and h/c and stuff’.

But really I just want Korg and Thor being bros.)

Loki/Sam Wilson

Yeah, I just want this. I saw it in the tagset and just…how would it work? Maybe they end up stuck together in some kind of weird survival scenario, like…they’re on a deserted island…in space! And they have to work together and somehow end up falling in love. It’s all very bitter and snarky.

Sam’s lonely, Loki’s lonely, they both feel kind of out of place and isolated in their day to day lives, and it turns out that they have more in common than they thought (they’re both really emotionally invested in intense blond men, at least), and also they’re bored and hot.

Or something. Anything. Just throw Sam and Loki together and start a fire. (Also, any inclusion of hurt!Sam would be awesome.)

One Day at a Time

Penelope Alvarez & Schneider

How about some pre-series fic? Moving into his building and meeting the new landlord. Schneider and Penelope becoming friends. Schneider becoming part of the family (and yes, it’s a little because Penelope feels bad for him).
Penelope finding out about Schneider’s addiction issues! Does he tell her? Do they have a serious conversation about it that everyone hears because they’re having it behind a sheet?
Schneider with depressive episodes and/or an anxiety disorder. Penelope being helpful and commiserating.

Parks and Recreation

April Ludgate & Chris Traeger

I love their relationship in the show and I think it’s notable that April actually does some really nice things for Chris and seems to genuinely like him even if he annoys the hell out of her. Her worrying about him during his depression spiral is really interesting.

Basically, I just want them being friends. For some reason, April really comes through during the hard times.

Chris Traeger & Ben Wyatt

Ben doesn’t regret being with Leslie. He does regret hurting Chris in the process—he never meant to go behind his back and create a big conflict of interest and stress him out to a near breaking point, but unfortunately that’s how it turned out. Chris trying to deal with Ben, who’s been with him for twelve years, suddenly going behind his back and then…leaving him. Chris and Ben rebuilding trust after the trial, basically.
I love the episode "Ron and Diane", the one where Chris is just starting to get therapy and he and Ben go to Jerry’s Christmas party and it’s just full of things that would generally make Chris fall apart, but he doesn’t. I love how Ben looks out for Chris, and I’m really interested in pre-series stuff where Ben is constantly looking out for his partner because the guy falls apart when he drinks something full-fat. In short, Ben Wyatt: Emotional Guardian.
I also love the episode post-resignation where Ben’s massively depressed and Chris helps him. It just shows how well they know each other. So…Chris Traeger: Emotional Guardian would be great too.

Zoo

(Spoilers for literally the whole series.)

Note that I’m totally fine with canon relationships being mentioned or implied, and if, say, the POV character happens to be a character who’s canonically in love with another one, I don’t mind at all if you include that. Including romance isn’t a big deal as long as you focus on the friendship, basically.

Abraham Kenyatta & Mitch Morgan & Jackson Oz & Chloe Tousignant

Dysfunctional found family!

There’s definitely a lot of possibilities for every kind of whump imaginable with this canon. And then everyone rallying around the hurt character and recovery. (I’m going to be blunt here and say that while I would be thrilled with any character getting whumped/being the hurt party in an h/c scenario, Jackson is my favorite choice for that. Of course, there’s already in-universe whump for every character, so…exploration of that is great!)
Everyone bonding while on the plane together and how they eventually start to feel like family. When does that happen? When do they realize that they somehow care about these people that much? How do they feel about each other? Everyone argues all the damn time—do they ever take sides? Basically just…curtainfic or domestic fic, except also the world is at stake.
The characters protecting each other and being overprotective of each other works super well for this canon too. They’re willing to do anything for each other, and it’s awesome.
Grief after Chloe’s death.

Jackson Oz & Abraham Kenyatta

These two! These! Two! I love them so much! They’re so devoted to each other and willing to do anything for each other and their entire relationship is so complex but in the end unbreakable.

Something exploring Jackson’s mental health and the moments when Abe’s afraid he might lose Jackson to his own mind. I think some of the most interesting character moments of seasons one and two came from Jackson becoming progressively more troubled and impulsive and Abe trying to keep him safe because he loves him and he promised himself a long time ago that he was going to keep Jackson safe. A story dealing with something like that would be my jam.
Maybe even pre-series things like Jackson having a panic attack or having sudden mood swings where he’s fine and then he just can’t calm down, and how Abe tries to help. But they still don’t really talk about it much.
Pre-series Abe and Jackson fic in general. The development of their friendship. When does Abe tell Jackson about his brothers? Why? How does Jackson react? Does he quietly understand that he’s Abe’s brother now too?
And how about Jackson's surprise!Dead Family??? (No matter what, he still believed his kid was dead.) When did he tell Abe that? Was it in the same conversation as the one about Abe's brothers?
More on Jackson’s illness and deterioration during season two. His mental health’s already on shaky ground, but then he gets bitten and starts mutating and he just gets sicker and sicker…I think it would be a good place to write about Abe just helping him with day to day life, and also dealing with his hardcore guilt issues.
How about their friendship during the ten year gap? How much did it suck when Jackson went into hiding? How awesome of an uncle was/is he? Did he miss his kid? I want Jackson as part of the Kenyatta family during that ten year gap.

Jamie Campbell/Mitch Morgan

These two are so headstrong and messed up and weirdly perfect for each other, I love them. Mitch and Jamie’s devastation when they lost each other was heartbreaking, and I really dig the show’s depiction of that kind of super intense love.

I’m still stuck on an extremely throwaway line from, like, episode three where Mitch complains that thinking of explaining something he and Jamie did to Animal Control still “makes [him] want to cut [himself]”. It really makes me want fic where Mitch self-harms or self-harmed and Jamie finds out and freaks out (and then comfort, but first that). I figure that that would be in season one or two.
A much less specific prompt: I just want more exploration of how they fell in love, how they feel about it, if it was a surprise that they fell so hard, how Mitch feels about his relationship with Jamie as opposed to his relationship with his wife…just give an in depth depiction of the relationship and its evolution and how they feel about each other.
Exploring the much darker Jamie after the ten year gap would be awesome too. And she and Mitch getting to know each other again. Mitch hasn't changed much, having been dead for ten years...so how does that affect things?
